After school Amardeo finished his B. Tech. degree from the Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi, in 1977, Master's degree (Diplom-Ingenieur) from the Technical University of Darmstadt in 1980, both in Electrical Engineering. He worked at Deutsche Telekom and predecessors from 1981 to 1995 and 1999 - 2001, and at Eurescom Heidelberg from 1995 to 1999 and is at NEC Network Laboratories in Heidelberg (www.ccrle.nec.de) since 2001, where he is responsible for the Mobile Internet and Security work. He is currently Co-Chairman of ITU-T Study Group 17 on Data Networks and Teleccommunication Software (www.itu.int) . He is co-founder of the SDL Forum Society (with affiliations to the SDL-TTCN Forum of India - http://sdl-ttcnforum.com/), in which he served as Chairman for several years.
Amardeo founded and chairs the German skeptics organisation GWUP (www.gwup.org) and currently also leads the European skeptics organisation ECSO (www.ecso.org), which serve to promote science, critical thinking, to inform the public about paranormal and other extraordinary claims from a scientific viewpoint, as well as to promote and conduct investigatations in these areas.

Amardeo is married to Kristiane and has three children: Navina (23), Olivia (20) and Dominik (17). He lives in Rossdorf (Germany), 7 km from Darmstadt and about 45 minutes drive from Frankfurt.
